Subject: Yet more Vista Decal problems
I have AC and Decal installed on a Vista 32bit machine. Four problems and counting happy

1. The Deep keeps track of gold fins, teeth, eggs etc but will not turn them in.

2. With timestamp turned on in Decal, I get no timestamps. On a sidenote and just as annoying, with timestamp turned off in Decal and on in AC config, I get double timestamps.

3. Even though the order of the decal plugins are set the way I like them in the Decal config menu, in game they revert to their own, unmoveable order. ARGH

4. I can not turn on Landscape textures in AC config, if I do, I get NO textures, just a gray expanse of terrain and wireframe mountains. This is probably a ATI driver/DX9 in Vista issue. I have Vista 64bit on my laptop running a Nvidia graphics (7950go) adapter and this problem doesn't occur.

Anyone have these or similar problems?/fixes?

Same trouble here, 32bit Vista, ATI card, no landscape textures. Distant texture is ok, but as soon as I start to get close to it, it turns gray. I wasn't experiencing this issue at first and unfortunately I can't really pinpoint when I started to notice it so I can't really trace the problem back to any one specific event. I've tried to update or repair everything from my ATI driver to the AC install and I can't seem to resolve the issue. Maybe when/if Turbine upgrades to suport Vista they will address the issue seeing as it seems to be an issue with only Vista users with ATI cards. Also it seems to only effect AC as WoW graphics are still ok on my system. Hopefully we'll have some sort of solution soon, travel in dereth is tough when you can't distinguish between ocean and land ..... hehe

So that confirms what I was suspecting, it's an ATI driver issue most likely. Especially since I know it works on a Nvidia card. <sigh> It seems amazing to me that as long has it has taken to get Vista launched that a manufacturer as major as ATI couldn't have mature stable drivers for it.

Oh, as to updating or repairing the AC install. I went to the trouble to copy the entire AC directory on my laptop and put it on my main computer. I have the laptop up and running WITH landscape textures enabled and the same exact AC install on both machinge. Still no landscape textures.

I stoped using ATI years ago because of very similar issues with previous driver/Os updates.

They are slow.

Well, Nvidia has gotten caught with their pants down.. their Vista drivers SUCK.
But then again, Vista Beta was different from RC1, which was different from Final Release... so I can see the problems they're having; the same problems Turbine has had getting AC updated.
